batter's box?

What are the dimensions of the batter's box (nfhs)? I am trying to find out where the batter can stand (how close to the plate, etc). I know that if the batter has one foot completely out of the box and hits the ball fair or foul he/she is out. Right? What about a foul tip with one foot out of the box? I assume that if the batter swings and misses the ball with while out of the box they are not out.

Thanks,
Fan

All softball - 6 inches from the side of the plate, 3 feet wide. Length extends 4 feet forward and 3 feet backward from center of plate (where tapered part starts).

(1) Right, if on the ground completely out of the box. (If the foot is in the air, no problem.)
(2) Out, fair, foul or foul tip.
(3) Correct - - unless, of course, they already had two strikes.
