Ok, another easy question for you guys.

If hte batter steps out of the batters box during a swing is it an automatic out? If not what's the call?

Do any of you know if there is a FED online rulebook so I could find this stuff without asking?

Fed Rule 7.3.2. "A batter shall not hit the ball fair or foul while either foot is touching the ground completely OUTSIDE the lines of the batter's box or touching home plate"

Penalty - The ball is dead and the batter is out.

Note: It states that the ball shall not be HIT and also the batter MUST BE OUTSIDE the batter's box, touching the ground. Up in the air means nothing.

Go to nfhs.org to find out if the rules are there.

Fed rulebooks are not on-line. You may purchase one from them, I would reccomend also purchasing a case book at the same time.
Only if the ball is struck AND at least one foot is on the ground, completely outside the batter's box. Swing and a miss is just a strike.
