. DP and Flex in the game.
. Flex starts at F1
. In 3rd inning, Flex goes to F9, F9 to F1.
. In 5th inning, DP goes in to pitch.
. Status of Flex? Does Flex leave game when original
position(F1) is subbed for by DP or when current
position (F9) is replaced by DP?

Flex was still playing in the field and remains

DP and Flex are both playing defense. If replaced pitcher bats, all players remain

FLEX always played the field (never replaced); Flex remains.

Let me clarify. Rule book states that..."or the DP may play defense for the Flex. In either case, the Flex will leave the game" (Fed 3-3-6f). So using my original scenario, DP comes in to pitch (Flex original position).Does Flex leave game when ORIGINAL defensive position is subbed for or CURRENT defensive position (F9 in this case) is subbed for?

Don't worry about the positions in the field. If the FLEX is playing defense, then FLEX is in the game. What the F (F9, F1, F3) doesn't matter.
DP did not come in for FLEX. DP came in for F1.
No player was substituted into the game for FLEX.
    FLEX remains.

Yeah, that got my attention too.

When the DP goes in for the F1, it isn't a substitution. The F1 goes to the bench, but still bats.

I'm fortunate enough to belong to 2 chapters that go over the rules, 1 for ASA, the other for Federation. Unfortunately, just because you attend classes, doesn't mean you ever look at your rule book. That being said, after reading little jimmy's post, I consider myself fortunate to be in chapters that try anyway.

A shaft of light has hit me. In a moment of (rare) clarity, I think I now see where my dp/flex mistakes were. Thanks to all who assisted during my suffering.
