Not sure if this has been discussed, but I was just wondering:

What do we as umpires do for pre-season training/conditioning? Rules knowledge? Athletic endeavors? Let me know.

Since season never ends in this are, just keep
active. I jog and use my crossbow..

"Rules knowledge?"
Read the rule book for association you are
working, and check this board out regularly.

For preseason conditioning, ASA recommends excercises designed to strengthen the legs, such as jogging, running in place, deep knee bends...etc. They also recommend a regimen of calisthenics to work your back and leg muscles to prepare you for the many hours behind the plate.

As to rules knowledge, glen made some excellent suggestions.
