umpire jeopardy ??
This occurred in a MLB game.
Runner on 1st, deep fly ball into a deceptive corner of the fence. U1 calls dead ball, administers two base award. R1 had advanced to home, BR/R2 stopped at 2nd. Video review shows the ball never struck a dead ball object, so R1 proceeds home. If, IF, this happened in a softball game, with video replaced with umpire conference, the ruling appears correct. BUT, if the umpires judge that BR/R2 only stopped at 2nd because of the dead ball call; could R2 be awarded 3rd based on umpire jeopardy. Yes, I know, we also have to judge that R2 would have reached 3rd.
