Runner collides with umpire

Here is an old story I came across, not involving me. Interesting discussion?

R1 on 2nd. Ground ball headed for left field, R1 heads for 3rd, BU cuts behind her toward infield. F6 makes an amazing play on ball, jumps up and chases R1 back toward 2nd. BU still cutting in and after 1 or 2 steps, R1 runs into BU. F6 tags R1 at collision point, 10 – 15 feet from 2nd. BU calls dead ball, confers with PU.
They decide it was an umpire mistake, misjudging the play and R1’s speed; causing jeopardy for R1, who might have made it back to 2nd. DC disagrees, but BU rules “part of field” applies to ball, not players. Based on jeopardy from umpire mistake, BU places R1 on 2nd, BR on 1st.

Maybe lots wrong here, including whether jeopardy requires a changed ruling.
What are your opinions?

Play: R1 on 1B with one out. B3 hits a ground ball to F5 who throws to F2 covering 2B. F5 then throws to F3 for a double play but the ball goes off the glove off F3 and rolls to the fence. B3 Now R2 tries to go to 2B. As they turn to run to 2B they bump into the umpire and consequently are called out at 2B in a very close play. The team at bat wants the call reversed because the umpire put their runner in jeopardy as they clearly would have been safe had they not bumped the umpire.

Ruling: The umpire’s ruling on the field is correct. The umpires are a part of the field and may be embarrassed for not getting out of the way, but they made the right call. Regardless if R2 would have clearly been safe had they not collided with the umpire has no bearing on the call. We only have two rules that spell out when you can have umpire interference. The first is when the umpire is hit with a batted ball and the second when the plate umpire interferes with the catcher’s throw to retire a stealing runner. Rule 8, Section 6F or Rule 8, Section 1E [7].

What Rules Set are you quoting?

I didn't post that, but I think that kind of ruling is only posted by USA Softball, but the numbering might be different since then.
In any case, the cites are about actual umpire interference posibilities.

Yes, USA Softball.

The references to fielders are all messed up, but I copied it directly without edits.

EG: F5 throws to F2 covering second base. VERY fast catcher.
