Linesmen/Asst. Referee Flags
Whenever I look in referee/umpire catalogs, I notice that many AR flags are sold as a set of two (makes sense), but that they come as two different colors. Can any of you soccer refs explain the reason for this?

When working tournaments at complexes which have multiple fields that often are placed side-by-side, seeing the asst ref's flag on the neighboring field can cause confusion as often the referee crews on both fields are wearing the same color shirts. Therefore, using a different style/color pattern of flags helps make a distinction.

There a sports facility near me that has 14 soccer field all near each other. I couldn't imagine trying to differentiate between red flags going up everywhere. Good idea for having differently coloured flags.
