IMO the only thing the crew coud/should do (CSFP) would be to treat it like umpire int. Put BR on 1B and advance any runner forced.

Of course it IS MLB and Angel is involved ....

1. IMO a huge part of the problem is a lack of quality training. Try to get into the one week class at region - you can't because the same guys are there...

I disagree. There are many HS & youth fields where the backstop more or less encloses the plate area. Lot's of baseballs bouncing around that come back with sufficient velocity to hurt.

Good points! The pro schools and most clinics teach to verbalize anything out of the ordinary or when something unexpected happens. I have found this to be very good advise over the years.

The mechanic advised by Steve is taught at the pro scholls and is expeted in MiLB and in most NCAA conferences. (The older mechanic was to raise the right are horizontal and verbalize "no catch")
