I thought the same thing and was going to be an official in a winter then a summer sport .
Personally for me it came to a several points
a Time for my wife/ family in the off season
b How far I wanted to go as an official
c Officiating took a lot of time
d Training in the off season still takes time
e The need to re-charge the batteres

It came to me thinking I want to be the best as I can and to do that it takes all year just for one sport
