Can you issue a yellow/red card after the match has finished?
Evening all.
So I officiate Dodgeball in the UK. This year the we have introduced a revised (and condensed) rule set. We run tournaments that last an entire day - teams may play several matches throughout the day. A player was given a red card AFTER the match had finished, following two yellow cards during the day, in separate matches. Is this an acceptable practice? Do other sports do this after play has finished? As officials, should we be able to do this? The rule is stated: The following offences will result in a red card: - Persistent rule infringements issued after the player has already received a yellow card during the event. |

I don't understand your rule citation. It almost sounds like you are suggesting he should have received a red card during play instead of after it.

But, yes, assuming the officials' jurisdiction is not ended, it is generally acceptable that the officials should penalize poor behavior that occurs after the contest if they need to. You will need to consult your UK dodgeball rulebook to make that determination for this situation. |
