NCAA "A" official
Watching Texas vs. K State and saw an extra official with an "A" on his back lined up in Offensive backfienld opposite R. Noticed this last week in a game as well. Is this a test run on haivng an 8th official and what are his duties? Looks like he was sprinting in and out frequently in the hurry up and punts to set the ball. He looked a lot younger than rest of the crew and never saw him throw a flag. Just curious...

The A in the Texas game has been a line judge in the Big 12 for years. He worked a couple of B12 championship games before that ended.
