Ejection Question
Wasn't at this game but was told the following:
Skirmish breaks out in front of Team A's bench. Team A had just returned a punt. Ejections were handed out to players from Team A who came off of the bench. I assume like basketball that's an automatic ejection. One player that was ejected for coming off of the bench was actually on the punt return team and was on the field during the return. If an official thinks the kid came off of the bench but the coach is insisting he was on the field are there any options for the official or once he's been ejected he's out? At what point does he become bench personnel? Fight was after the whistle which ended the quarter. Thanks |

You make the call based on what you see. Think about it Spence, are you going to change your call if a coach tells you the player was on the court when the fight occurred?
The key question is were any of the players on the field ejected for fighting? Because the rule is NOT the same in football as it is in basketball.
