I have just been appointed the group leader for our association.
I am wondering if anybody knows of a computer program that will input all the information necessary for our ratings to be up to date and fair. Right now, we rate officials in five groups, one through five. One is the highest and five is the lowest. Officials are rated by the two senior officials on each crew. Reports are turned in after every game. The rating committee inputs all of the information at the end of the season. we would like a program that updates the information for the last two years only. The program we have now will not delete the information (ratings) from four or five years ago. As a result it is almost impossible for an official to move to a higher rating. We would also like the program to give a weight to the score on the classification test and attendance at our weekly meetings. I would appreciate your input. |

I don't know if there are any programs specifically for officials (though I wouldn't be shocked), but it sounds like a simple excel spreadsheet form with the required formulas entered in would be all you would need. This would be fairly simple to create and much cheaper than any software package. I'm not sure if that would suit all your needs, but it sounds like something I've used in rating my student officials (I train student officials for the campus recreation department where I work) and it has served me quite well.

I agree with stripes1977. Microsoft Excel is great at handling tabular data like this and many of its functions are powerful. If you aren't familiar with excel or its functions, I'd be glad to provide some assistance. You can email me at [email protected]. (Get rid of the "nospam_" part of the email address before sending me a message).
