Technology

Wondering what role technology plays in your local/association meetings. Those include video projectors, computer editing, power point and the like. If these tools are utilized do you have any resources or tricks that have been successful?

I am apart of an organization of organizations that trains officials. We own computers, projectors and edit video for training purposes for a football class and clinic, basketball class and clinic and even for baseball and softball clinics. We even loan out the equipment to other organizations (under our umbrella) for their association meetings and camps they might run.

Peace

We use a projector for film and presentation slides. Unfortunately, the projector is not powerful, and the people who make the slides think they can fill the screen with 10 point type.

Baby steps...

I assume you mean besides the audience using their smart phones to text, surf the net and answer e-mails instead of listening.

We use power point and video via a laptop/overhead combo. Even simple drawings can add tons to a presentation and demonstration. As for tricks to make it successful: ensure it is set up, verified to be working and ready to go BEFORE the meeting starts. You will lose an audience quickly with technical difficulties.
