Walt I don't have my books with me right now so I can't look it up; but, I was under the impression that an ineligible receiver had to intentionally touch the ball for it to be illegal touching?

It's not illegal touching but you still have an ineligible down field.

Oops! I fail at reading comprehension. I read that as "10 yards behind the line of scrimmage." You are correct of course.
