NCAA Conversion Rule - Help me out please?!?

I thought I saw a college game a year or two ago that had the following scenario(or something close to it):

Team A goes for 2, fumbles - Team B picks up the fumble returns it 20 yards, fumbles, Team A recovers and runs it in for the conversion.

Give me a ruling for this scenario, please. I'd appreciate any rule reference you could give as well. Thanks.

There is no special rules for a try down in NCAA accept for penalty enforcement differences and that the 4th down fumble rule is in effect. However, since B recovered the ball, then fumbled it, any A player can recover the loose ball and advance it. If the team A player advances it to B's GL, it will be a 2 pt conversion. I cannot really give you a rule reference cuz as I stated above, it is like a regular down, with those exceptions.

For some reason I recall the crew.........

giving the offense 1 point in this scenario. I know it sounds crazy, but I couldn't have made this up!?! Thanks for the effort, I'll take others thoughts on this as well.

What you probably recall is not what you think you recall, but team B's giving a fumble or backward pass by A new impetus from the field of play into B's end zone where it went out of bounds while still loose or became dead in B's possession. I recall such a play on TV. It would've been 1 pt. for A even under the former rules where B couldn't score on the try. In Fed, last I recall, the ball would've been dead on B's taking possession behind their goal line, resulting in 1 pt. without B's even getting a chance to run the ball out!

And the values of scores, and absence of another try for a TD, and that time is out throughout the try.

Yes, the amazing thing is that NCAA adopting 2-way scoring for the try actually shortened the rules a little. But they could shorten them even more by abolishing the try.

Thanks All

That was the deal. Team B recovered, fumbled back into their own end zone on the return and it went out of bounds for a 1 point safety. Thanks for the refresher!!!
