Holding (NCAA Rules)

Help me with enforcing offensive holding...

3rd and 10 from Team A 20 yd line: A1 holds B1 at the 35 yd line while A2 runs past A1 and B1. A2 gets tackled at the 50 yd line.

If Team B accepts the penalty where will the penalty be marked off from?

I'm trying to get a good understanding of where holding penalties are enforced from....as I was under the impression if the penalty occurs behind the LOS it's marked off from the LOS and if the penalty occurs beyond the LOS its marked off from the spot of the foul.

You need to look at where the basic spot is instead of just saying "the penalty will be marked off from here." If the hold is behind the LOS, the BS is the PS and if the hold is beyond the LOS, the BS is the end of the run. If the BS is the EOR and the hold is behind the BS, you will enforce the hold from the spot of the foul. So, in your play, you would enforce the foul from the 35 cuz the EOR (BS) was beyond the spot of the foul. You cannot say if the hold was beyond the LOS you will mark it off from the spot of the foul cuz if the ball was snapped from the A20 and the hold was at the A45 but the run ended at the A35, you'd enforce it from the A35.

To translate...

If the hold is behind the LOS, enforce from the LOS.
If the hold is beyond the LOS, and behind the EOR, enforce from the spot of the foul.
if the hold is beyond the LOS and beyond the EOR, enforce from the end of the run.
