Block in the Back away from the Play?

Many of you have probably seen this from the other forum, but in case you didn't:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLEs8zWCizU

All seriousness aside, it makes me laugh.

What part of it makes you laugh? The fact that one of our own is showing his arse for the world to see and who, if someone desired, could possible be charged with assault , or sued?

It's beautiful, as far as I'm concerned. Get the **** off the field.

Had a V game this year where the coaches were warned about encroaching the field.

So on a sweep to my side, as LJ, I take a few steps upfield and there he is again - dumb coach. I have about a half-step to get out of the way. I didn't take it. Hit him, flagged him.

The only thing that would've made the video better is the linesman/line judge tossing a flag in the air after hitting each coach while going by.

Coaches that are on the field like that are putting my wings in danger. That's what they don't get -- we're there to work and I don't want to have to worry about having to slalom around coaches while running IN BOUNDS.

First year doing H.S. for me. I have tried almost everything to learn to manage the sideline. I know you have to start early in the game.

One JV game, in the first quarter, the coaches are trying to claim their territory on the PLAYER'S field. First one step on the field, then two. I look down the line and three coaches are a couple steps on the field. I look across to the other sideline and no coaches are on the field. So I say to the "get back" coach, "Look at the other sideline. Do you see any of their coaches on the field? You're guys have to get off the field!" They all move back and I'm thinking I'm a great communicator.

A few plays later, this assistant comes running up to me and says "Look over there NOW, they're ALL on the field!". That day, I learned something new NOT to say to them. LOL

You can (and should) have the flag without the intentional contact by the lard arse official. That is BS on the part of that official and has no place on football field, even at the pee wee level.

A cheap shot in the back is not an example of good sideline control, and, at least at the camps I've attended, not a recommended mechanic.

I have run into coaches before, but not intentionally. Anytime I make contact with a coach who is ON the field during a play there is a flag!

Another one who can't just laugh at the video. Why am I not surprised?

C'mon, now. A serious official would never do something like this, but WANT to? Sure. So why not laugh when someone does it?

Exactly. That is why I wrote "ALL SERIOUSNESS ASIDE, I think its funny".

Anyone can plainly see that the whole crew in the video is lame. The BJ got beat by a mile. Obviously, the Wing didn't work properly with the sideline coaches in the first quarter. You won't be seeing these guys in the State Finals. Hopefully, you won't be seeing these guys in ANY games in your state.

But, funny? I think so.

Its off-season. Its OK to laugh every once and a while. If you can't laugh, maybe you should add some fiber to your diet. (that's a joke too! LOL) That's not me in the video. Its not you, is it?

No, it's not the players' field, it's YOUR field. Keep the coaches off of it.

I have done this is the past and will do it again, plus flag him.

Like it or not...we all wear the same uniform. What one dumb arse does reflects on ALL of us. This is NOT funny. Maybe once you have been involved in a serious issue involving something like this you will learn that.

Somehow I think that only officials think this way. There are bad people in every profession or avocation. It doesn't reflect greatly on me as a person or as an official. When I show up and show professionalism and respect and expect it in return, it makes guys like this irrelevant. These guys wouldn't even be on my field if I was the wing -- I'd have taken control of that long ago.

I've been involved in just about every situation out there in the past 20 years, including multiple police escorts and threats and even being chased out of town. Forgive me for not being so emotional about it.

I'm still laughing at the video.
