Are NCAA overtime rules similar to NFHS rules as far as change of possession is concerned?

Example: Team A fumbles, B recovers, tries to advance. In NFHS, B cannot advance, play is whistled dead is the end of A's series.

REPLY: No...not the same. All plays in NCAA overtime continue until dead by rule. So, a change of possession is allowed to continue to its conclusion. If B happens to score, game's over and they win. One other thing...NCAA calls it "extra periods" -- not overtime.

How bout this situation....

Team A fumbles, B recovers and advances. A then strips the ball from B and recovers.

I assume A begins its new series 1st and 10 from the 25, regardless of where they recovered B's fumble?

No, in this case, A would lose its right to score and B would begin, 1 and 10 at the 25.

The only way A could score in your second example is if they score after they strip the ball from B.

REPLY: grant is correct. An A-B-A double change of possession will allow A to continue that play if he recovers off the ground--he may even score, but once that play ends, A's series is over.

Team A may not have a first and 10 if it again possesses the ball after a change of team possession.
