Of course..its always the kicking game
Fellow polyester-polinbates,
NFHS situation. A 4/10 A40. A18's punt is blocked at the A35. After a mad scramble for the ball, A18 eventually recovers the ball takes two steps and kicks it again from the A38. The ball was recovered behind the neutral zone and never crossed the neutral zone. RULING? ![]() Yes, this play actually happened. Two kicks by the same team before a change of possession during a play in which the ball never crossed the LOS. Now, lets try and keep this on topic... ![]() CBS's Dan Rather says that preliminary indications show that this play is legal and thus, are declaring it legal... ![]() |

REPLY: NF 6-2-1 is the rule book reference...and yes the play (second kick) is legal. Heck, in Fed it would have been legal even if the kick had been beyond the NZ and rebounded back behind it. In NCAA, if the kick had been beyond, K's subsequent recovery would have made the ball dead.

Ironic that this play gets posted today. During our pre-game on Friday night we discussed the possibility of K kicking the ball twice during a scrimmage kick play.
