NCAA - Kick into endzone
In NCAA, if a legal kick that crosses the GL (either touched or untouched by B) which has NOT touched the ground behind the GL is batted back into the field of play by a Team A player who was in the EZ when he batted it, is the ball still live (even though it's still a violation per 6-3-11)? Had someone say that if a Team A player is in the EZ when he bats it, then the ball is dead and it is a TB. Thanks

Excellent. Thanks for that. Also, I thought that this is the only case of illegal touching where penalties can be enforced from the TB spot. In other words, if there's an accepted penalty, we don't cancel this particular violation. Is that correct?

Now you guys got me thinking [danger!]
What if the kick was touched by B in the field of play, then A bats the ball back from out of the EZ and B recovers on the 2 yard line. B can still take the option of a touchback? |

In that case the bat is a foul for an illegal bat, 15 yds, basic spot (which would be previous spot here) B could take the ball at the 2 or have a repeat of the down after 15 yard penalty from previous spot. (No LOD as it was a scrimmage kick beyond the NZ).
