Is the NCAA/NFHS rules differences on-line? If so, could someone give me the link?

Thanks

REPLY: Here's a link to what you might call an "abridged" version. It's not the full blown version, but it does discuss the differences at the 50,000-foot level.

Also, here is an electronic link to the NCAA rule book. http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/20...ball_rules.pdf
That way you don't have to purchase one.

A side note that was reinforced to me just this weekend. Beyond rules differences, I think the most important thing to focus on are the mechanics differences. Going from 5 man to 7 man makes a huge difference. Knowing who you are responsible for is almost more important than having a firm grasp of the rules. Now, I'm not discounting knowledge of the rules. Rather, it has been my experience that knowledge of the mechanics is an huge part of making a smooth transition from HS to college.

thanks, I just got the 2005 7 man manual and it is totally different. I also printed the 2005 rules, all 233 pages.

Yeah, the CCA does things way differently from the Fed from a mechanics standpoint, especially when it comes to receiver keys.

I personally like the CCA way better.

Hopefully you didn't print each page on a separate piece of paper! You can print multiple pages per piece of paper and print on both sides. I printed mine 6 per side and only used 20 pieces of paper! That was a little hard to read so I might do 4 pages per piece next year.

I have been looking at that, and your right. The keys is much better IMO.

Buy the book... even if it is the 2005 version.

It is well worth the bucks especially if you still plan on doing both codes in the same year.

Don't know if this is relevent, but Texas plays under NCAA rules with about 33 exceptions. Many of the exceptions align Texas HS with federation.

For example:

-- goal post size
-- 12 minute quarters
-- eyeshields
-- kicking tees

Other exceptions may not mirror Fed. Fighting is one example as there is a specific section on fighting in the UIL (Texas SHSA) exceptions.

If I could piggy back on this post - does anyone know of a good posting of NFL rule differences? We work a semi-pro league in the spring/summer that uses NFL rules. I put together some stuff last year so I'm getting ready to do the same for this year.
