Talking

I was sifting through a magazine the other day when I noticed a rather amusing insert.

“The Official Miller Guide to Beer Penalties”

This guide featured a brief description, case play and mechanic for each beer foul.

These included:

Ineligible Beer in the Cooler
Roughing the palate
Unbeermanlike Conduct
Flavor Interference (this was an American magazine)
Too Many Carbs in the Beer
Offside, Import Encroachment
Incomplete Beer
Illegal Motion at Tap
Delay of Beer

Now the next time I go to a party I’ve just got to remember my flag

Why didn't you mention the magazine's name?

Is it because you don't want everyone to know you read Maxim?

Where is taste mask? I only know about it because it's in one of Miller's TV ads.

Ahh, so you've got the Miller rulebook too

I just didn't think the name of the magazine had any bearing on the post. As I'm sure this booklet is featured in other magazines.

But Maxim is a kick-a$$ magazine, good articles, humour and some killer pictures

I'm just trying to figure out which one I like more, Referee or Maxim

Oh yeah, taste masking isn't featured in this edition of the rules

Oh, I love the Miller commercials! Especially the one with the three officials calling several things on the poor Bud (I think) delivery man, such as "illegal use of the hand cart." The one on the beach is really good too.

Go to Miller's website. You can find the commercials and all the "beer penalties" there.

The Budweiser ad with the referees is hilarious as well. Starts out just like the Miller ads, but then you realize the refs are simply trying to steal everyone's Budweiser. A nice comeback ad campaign if you ask me.

Ya know, I read copy for my college paper for years. If NFHS called, I'd happily do a little freelance editing for them.

Another funny commercial is the one where the official is getting an earful on the sideline from a coach. The commentators are heard asking where he gets trained to just stand there, emotionless. They cut to a picture of him sitting in a chair, emotionless, while his wife is yelling in his ear.

Good for a laugh, but I couldn't tell you what they were selling.

It was a Budweiser ad - they had a couple featuring refs during/around last year's Super Bowl.
