Personally you shouldn't signal at all, the R and other deep official should notice if it is ovious. You should always be ready for it, giving a signal or moving is just a way to tip off the receiving team, especially since your a HL, all you need is a coach chewing you out because the receiving team knew it was coming. I don't think anything should be done differently.

Odur "onsides kick signal" is usually execute after the HL has started jogging to the sideline after handing the ball to the kicker. The actual "signal" is something you and your crew need to agree on. My suggestion is that it look like one of your common mannerisms - that way you're not tipping off the other team. Obviously the signal is only effective if the other 4 crew members are watching the HL and can clearly see your signal.
