Correct spot of ball after touchback

Free kick goes into end zone for a touchback. Where is the ball spotted on the 20 yard line? Is it spotted closest to where the ball became dead or spot it in the middle of the field on the 20?

The team can choose any spot between the hashmarks.

If they don't communicate it to us, it goes down in the middle of the field.

Usually, in the middle and early on I might ask if they have a preference. If they don't have a preference, then I put it in the middle.
