Looking for a little input & help !!
I have been working up the info for our pregames that our crew goes over on the way to our games and before we take the field. I try to have it ready by Tues. and email it out and then we review on Friday. I use the pregame outline from football officials guideline to review mechanics, 5-10 situations from this site, and plays from the casebook. I also use 8-10 T/F questions from the Part 2 test and about 5 multiple choice questions. I would like to know if this is over kill, is there something else I should have. Just wonder what other crews do, wondering of I am on the right track. Thanks for all your help!!

We go over the duties of each official on free kicks, punts, scrimmage plays, etc. We do not use the same crew all year, so it is good that everybody gets an understanding of who knows what. Each official is responsible for speaking when their position is being talked about. It can get boring to listen to the referee the whole time. This will also encourage position officials to read before the game and know his/her position. You can set a bad tone early if it gets your turn to say what your duties are during a free kick and you give the wrong position and you say you are looking at the wrong things.

How long do you have? It seems to me that going over all mechanics as well as a pop quiz would take quite a while.
Do mechanics, go over situations e.g. blocked FG, blocked punt, bad snap on a try or FG, penalties, OT etc. make sure everybody has their mind right. Then take the field. |

We are onsite and dressed by 1 1/2 before the game. If we have a long ride, we will go over plays in the car. Pregame is generally 1 hour. We take the feild 1/2 before the game for pregame field duties and coach conferences.
