Question about a NFL rule.

The Ravens beat the Browns with a TD after time had expired. The Browns cannot win the game but NFL rules require that PAT be attempted. My question is why? The game is over. Why attempt the PAT?

Thanks.

Points differential is a playoff tie-breaker. I am almost positive that is the reason they require it to be done. The Ravens did the right thing IMO.

Peace

Thanks Jeff. And once again the Browns clutched defeat out of the jaws of victory. LOL!

Not kicking it can disrupt the line in Vegas. Not that the NFL condones gambling in anyway, shape, form, or fashion.

What's the penalty for not attempting it?

You forfeit the game?

This rule seems a bit inconsistent, because if a team scores a game winning TD in overtime, they aren't required to attempt a PAT. Why the difference?

In the scenario where no XP is kicked it does. And that's any first TD in OT.
