New umpire location between quarters

We have a new two-man mechanic between quarters, and I was wondering whether others are doing this.

Instead of the U going to the block in the direction of the division-line throw-in, he/she stands at the same spot as the 30-second time-out (tableside intersection of the circle and the division line). The rationale here is, it's a lot easier to inform teams of the intermission's first warning horn from that spot (in the same manner as time outs) than it is from the block.

I think this is a good change. Has anyone else implemented it?

As far as I know, between quarters is treated as a full timeout...meaning the U, using two officials, should be at the center circle spot farthest away from the table.

This is what we do between quarters. I figured it was pretty universal...guess not.

In Kansas, between quarters we are at center circle farthest from table. I also thought this was universal

I believe that is how it is written out in the NFHS officials' manual as well, so I would say it is universal, at least for those using the NFHS mechanics as written.

Alabama's officials manual for this year also has the U at the 30-second timeout spot between quarters. But we do very few two-person games.

Post Block

In IAABO mechanics land, the U stands on the lower block furthest from the bench in the front court of the inbounding team.
