Another one happened to start the OT period of Utah and Wichita.

I am the older guy with very little hair. :p

I just saw that on ESPN. I could not believe that happen again. I had never seen this happen before and it has happened twice.

Peace

damn:confused:
just saw the Utah one.
maybe there should be another way to start the game or just keep it as is?
I've been hit a couple of times, not hard, but that's after the tip when the players are running around. I like doing the jump but maybe they should consider doing away with it.

That was Dave Hall getting whacked in the head in the Wichita State at Utah game. He was unable to continue and the crew worked the OT 2-man.

I foresee a mechanics change in which the tossing official will stand outside the jump circle and lob the ball in a curved arc inside the current vertical toss.

This is how NBA official Ken Mauer tosses the ball.

I say just go to a coin flip. Then the "speaking captain" will finally actually have something to say.

Shhh...keep that quiet or another young official will post that he is doing another mechanic incorrectly. ;)

Looks like Hall tried to put his whistle in his mouth after getting whacked.

Worst I ever had was I caught the top of a jumper's wrist right on my funny bone...had burning in the last 3 fingers of my hand for 2 days. Pain was really bad whenever I used that hand during the game and darned if both teams didn't shoot about 30 threes.

is there a rule we have to follow for the jump-ball? Can I stand further out and do more of a lob/curve toss? I could easily stand a few feet out and do an overhead toss, kind of like a soccer throw-in.

The manual does not specifically say to step into the circle to toss it.
