Dick Bavetta worked his 2,633rd consecutive game Wednesday night. That's one more consecutive game than Cal Ripken Jr. compiled playing MLB. Bavetta worked the Knicks-Nets game at MSG which is where he worked his first ever NBA game in 1975. In all that time, he never once missed an assignment!
Bavetta is 74 years old and has worked 270 playoff games including 27 NBA finals games, plus 3 all-star games and also the 1992 Olympics. I wonder if the NBA is going to also release the statistic that states how many technicals he's given out? I'd sure like to know that. ![]() Bottom line - what an extraordinary career - and it's not over yet. Go get 'em Dick!

I love watching this guy. He won't take any crap from anyone. Plus, of course, he calls a great game. Wouldn't it be great if we were all in as good a shape as he is when we get to be his age?
