And since they are switching shorts the teams do not have to leave the court to make the change, .

Here was a tough one to call:

Whitney Young at Mater Dei this past Saturday night in the Nike Extravaganza.
Red vs Orange.

The very reason that the rule was changed a few years ago was a game between Illinois and Wisconsin, which was red vs orange.

In the third HS varsity game I ever worked (in 2001), H wore gold with blue trim (home unis) and V wore gold with blue trim (road unis). To make it better, the shades of gold and blue were almost identical. Two small town teams in the Florida panhandle about 20 miles apart and they were long time, hard core rivals. The gym was built in the 30's or 40' seating maybe 500 and there had to have been 700-800 fans crammed in, including 2-3 deep standing along the baselines. It was raucous and a zoo. One team went to the 1A state final four that year and the other team struggled to finish .500 in the same classification, but it was an intense, hard-played game. It was nearly impossible to tell who was who. Great game, great atmosphere, still one of the very best I've ever been involved in. However, in retrospect I must say that I like the rule change that requires H to wear white and V to wear dark.
