2 warnings? At least 1 too many ... maybe 2 too many.

What was the issue? Did they get into with the table people or the officials on the floor?

Sometimes if they get into with the table, that might be something that needs to be addresed directly before it becomes a distraction. If they are yelling at the officials, well not sure what rope they would need because I would already have hung them.

Peace

Depends on what they did and when, and maybe the game situation.

He got into it with the guys on the floor.
-Warning #1 came immediately after a H score when the V statistician for consecutive trips was arguing for an offensive foul in the post.Warning #1 was issued immediately after said score.
-Warning #2 was issued during a timeout in the 2nd quarter immediately after another H score arguing for the previously mentioned offensive foul in the post.
Believe me I would not allow a bench statistician to get into it with us at the table.Besides this team had a scorekeeper at the table with us.

"immediately after a H score when the V statistician for consecutive trips was arguing for an offensive foul in the post." -- "Coach! Control your bench!" (and he wouldn't have been arguing on consecutive trips, b/c this would have happened the first time he opened his mouth.)

"During a timeout in the 2nd quarter immediately after another H score arguing for the previously mentioned offensive foul in the post." -- WHACK!

Having more facts, I agree that this is too many warnings.

First comment; "Coach, control your bench."...maybe point in the general direction of the culprit so the coach knows who to "control".
Second comment; WHACK!

Seems fairly straight forward to me.

+1

No coach wants to lose that box.

Warning #2 would have involved free throws.

My warning #1 would have sufficiently embarassed the statistician so that #2 would not have been needed.

To stat guy (loudly): "That's enough from you" followed by "Coach, your assistants do not have the same privileges that you have". Everybody on that bench, the scorer's table, and the first couple of rows of will know what's going on.

Most rational people who act an a$$ do so because no one ever calls them out on it. Most rational people who act an a$$, and get confronted about their behavior, are contrite in the aftermath. I have often received apologies from players, coaches, and bench personnel. When they do apologize, my response is always "It's no big deal, I used to do the same thing" or something to that effect.

This approach works for me, not saying it works for everybody.
