Excessive contact?

A shooter slicing hard for the basket and is in the air near the rim is contacted SLIGHTLY but the contact causes the shooter to lose balance and hit the floor hard. Does the contact have to be excessive or do you also consider how hard the shooter hit the floor?

No. Seems one must distinguish between "excessive contact" (4-19-3d), which we sometimes call a "hard foul", and the harsh result of legal contact (ala 4-27) or merely a garden variety foul.
Sound right?

And sometimes the one who committed the foul will hit the floor hard.
