He asked him why he made a 3 second call from the trail position (so?) and generally gave him some crap. It just so happens that my partner is the varsity evaluator for the largest officials association in the state and certainly one of the best high school officials in the region. Oh yeah - he didn't like me indicating that a shot was a 2, not a 3, even though I was 2 feet from the girl and looking right at her foot on the line as she shot. He kept asking if I was "sure". No coach, I just make this up as I go along. In one game, he complained about over and back, 3 seconds, carrying, traveling, 10 second backcourt violation, 5 second closely guarded and virtually every type of foul there is. I'm sure he covered the entire violation section of the rulebook. BTW - his team was up by 30 in the second quarter (no kidding) and he was pressing. In the fourth quarter, up by over 45, we reminded him there was a league rule that you could not guard in the backcourt in the 4th quarter if you were up by 20 or more, so he told his girls to trap at half-court! This guy gets the oscar for best performance by a jerk in a leading role. Where do they come from? And why do I get them?

Why did you put up with it? There are rules that allow us not to have to deal with all this. If it was bad enough to post, maybe it was bad enough to whack?
