I received an e mail from a local assignor today about #57 RIP

It is with sadness that I inform you of the passing of Greg Willard. Greg was a long time NBA Official (#57) and started his officiating career in Orange County,CA where he also officiated community college baseball and football.

R.I.P.

54 years old and passed away less than a year after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Damn shame.

I am told this is one of the nasty ones that moves very quickly. Unfortunately, not the first person I've heard of/known who lost this battle at a young age. Sad.

One of the really good guys in officiating. I met Greg many years ago at a camp when I really didn't know much about what I was doing. He treated me like an equal.

RIP my friend.
