NCAA-M Coaching Box Question

I wish I remember which game I saw this in yesterday (29th).

At some point in the particular game, the opposite side official holds his hands with the palms facing each other about shoulder-width apart. Immediately, the table side official on that side (the Center?) said something to the coach.

Was that some sort of "Get the coach back in his box" signal? Or just a coincidental sequence of events?

I don't know if it's a standard signal, but I like it if it is. I may consider implementing it, especially in lower level games where coaches are more apt to need a reminder.

Part of the problem is, I tend to be on the wrong side of the court when I see the coach taking liberties with the coaching box.

Could the T have been signalling a Not Closely Guarded Situation. Which by the way is the most idiotic signal in our manual. If I ain't visually counting it means I don't have a Closely Guarded Situation. I had a college coach in a men's game start to complain that he didn't know if I did NOT have a CGS because I was not giving a visual counting signal. I told him if I am not giving a visual counting signal that means I do not have a CGS. He gave me one of those looks where the light bulb went off in his head (the bulb wasn't very bright, ), and said: Oh yeah, that makes sense.

And while you gave all that explanation, you could have given the signal and then they know why you did not have a signal.

Peace

IAABO did away with the "Not Closely Guarded" signal this past season.

And others would have simply avoided this conversation with a one second signal.

Honestly without video or talking to the official, hard to know what the communication was in this case. It is not unusual in my experience to wave a coach back into the box in both HS or college, but I have no idea what action was done. There is not standard signal if that is really the question.

Peace
