G1, guarded by W1, dribbled left and went up for a lay in.
With the ball still on the hand, G5 stumbled into W1 causing W1 to contact G1 in the act of shooting (Hand still on the ball). Shot missed.

Worked a HS team camp today.
5 - total number of girl's JV games
7 - number of hours committed for the cause.
8 - $ per game, but they'll be taking out FICA
15 - number of jump balls per game
3 - number of jump/held balls in game 4 before possession was established.
5 - total years experience of three partners I had today.
1 - number of times a coach yelled.
1 - Number of new kick signals I got to practice.

Next game in September for the real deal.

Interesting that you don't have an opinion on this, JR. . . Well, G1 was definitely disadvantaged by W5. So if there is a call to be made, the foul is on W5, and there is no try. If the bump on the shooter was slight and he was still able to get the shot off, I would love to no-call this, personally. If, however, there is a lot of contact, then I would have to call the foul on W5, and cancel any shot attempt. Boy would that be ugly, tho.

Wink

I see three options and like option one best, however option three could happen regardless of the call you make:

1)Call the foul on the stumbler. If he hits W1 hard enough for a foul to be called due to W1's subsequent contact with G1, call the foul on G5. Pushing foul on G5.

2)If the contact between G5 and W1 was incidental look at the same contact between W1 and G1 as incidental, and make it a no call. I personally don't like this option because it leads to option three..

3)Save your whistle for the technical foul on the G1 coach, because of the insults sent your way for not calling a foul on W1.

W5? Wha?

G5 stumbles into W1 causing W1 to make contact with a shooting G1. Shot misses.

Blech...foul on G5 or nuthin'. Most likely nothing, unless I thought G5's action more disgraceful than ungraceful.

This might also be a travel on G1, depending on the nature of the "stumbling" and how the ball was "still on the hand." That might be the best call if the situation allows.

Grrrr. Got my colors messed up. Other than that, I agree completely with Dan. No way is this a travel, however.

Mark,
In this instance, at this university, registered officials are required to fill out job applications and another 5 or 6 pages of information, to help out at their team camps.
I believe we are part-time university employees while we're there.
Dunno.
Maybe that's why I got a call that they needed some help.

A university down the road pays $12 cash.
