I'm not sure what, but it seems important to the OP since he put it in his thread title.
Agreed, it must be important, somehow. Reading the title, I assumed the clock was stopped with 3 seconds, and apparently others did also. But obviously, this is not necessarily the case.

It doesn't really matter. If it happened as stated with the ball "goes in w/3 seconds", the clock, if running, should stop at that point due to the violation. The resulting timing on the clock should be no different if it had not been a running clock.

Plus, the only way it could have gone in with a running clock would be if it had been a full court throw from the far endline. I suppose that could happen. The bigger discussion in that case would be the fact that it went in at all.

Right. I should have said the OP seems to think it is important, for some reason.

In that case I'd think twice about counting the bucket.

sorry so late

Yes got violation and throw in right, But with continuos play, clock running time stopped by violation with 3 sec on board. Should additional time be added or not? None was given though coach wanted it. How do these things happen? Score 2 pt difference.
Thanks for your responses.

No reason for time to be added back to the clock unless it was started improperly or didnt stop properly.

Can you describe the situation? How do you have an untouched throw in pass go through the basket with a running clock?

I'd like to see the op confirm that, since it's very unlikely. Might even be on YouTube.
