10 seconds????

High school...................team had ball in backcourt and guy trapped, he throws crosscourt in backcourt to teammate and ball hits their own rim..does this start the 10 second count anew if his teammate gets ball??? Or does count continue??? So I guess the question is, when ball hits rim, does that start all counts anew???

Check out 4-13-2. I think that answers your inquiry.
Count continues.

Keep counting until the ball gains frontcourt status, or until the other team gains control of the ball, or until the ball becomes dead. When a player in his backcourt throws the ball against the basket, or backboard, in his own backcourt (it's actually the other team's basket, but that's a long story for another thread) it's as if the ball touched the court, i.e. it's just like a dribble, or a bounce pass.
