Yelling? He said "rather loudly" in the OP...so maybe this is a had to be there scenario.

Yelling to me is something completely different and is usually accompanied by some demostrative hand gesture or body language. That would be showing me up and would get them whacked. Rather loudly leads me to believe he said something like "come on ref that's 7-1 against us" and IMO nothing more than part of the game.

Questioning your integrity is normal? Ok. And again, the "showing up" test doesn't work for me. Sure, It's sufficient, but it isn't necessary for a T.

Which is exactly why he needed to be rung up. He needs to keep himself quiet and play. My guess is the "Thank you, Sir" comment was the result of his coach chewing him out at some point after the T.
