How much do JV officials make per game?
I believe our JV officials are under paid.
I talked to a guy don the road from us ( about 45 minutes away ) They are getting $65 a game for JV. We get $45 a game. One game only. So we drive up to an hour away, get there about 1/2 hour before the game and get $45. While I know it's not about the money, it has a value, we do not get travel pay and we are away from our families. How much do each of you make for a JV contest? BTW, I do both JV and Varsity. Right now I have 11 Varsity, 1 JV, 1 Freshman game. to the end of December. We get $40 for a Freshman game. Again, you could travel up to an hour away, though most games are within 30 minutes of home. |

Total here ends up being $41.40 for one JV game.

Our game fee for high school sub-varsity is $30 plus the IRS compensation rate (currently $0.555 per mile) for round trip mileage from our home to the game site. Take home for a Frosh-JV double header typically runs around $70-85.

$45 for JV if they play 7-minute quarters. $55 (Same as varsity) if they decide to play 8-minute quarters, and only a couple of conferences do. We don't have individual JV games here. They are played before the varsity game and the same crew works both.
We get 40 cents a mile for one driver as well. We split it if we both have to drive. |

NV is $43.75 for FR, $43.75 for JV, which are done 2-man, and $60.75 for V if 2-man or $49.75 if 3-man. Additionally, a driver gets 0.55 per mile if over 10 miles one-way and any passengers get 0.19
Northern CA areas with which I'm familiar: $53 for JV and $75 for V. No travel fee. Sorry don't know the FR fee. Like anything else, the cost of living in your area or state is going to dictate what your fees are. I don't expect NY/Conn fees in the South or the West (CA Bay Area may be the exception). |

The Constitution State ...
Connecticut: All subvarsity (junior varsity, freshman, middle school) games: $58.21 (per official, two person crew, one game, no mileage).

You need to include mileage (if paid to the official) and "booking fees" (if paid by the official) in any analysis.
In the Chicago area, I think it's $47 for lower level, and $57 for Varsity. Some (maybe even most, but not all) lower level games are two games, but I don't know the rate. No mileage (but many games are "close" mileage-wise, but long time wise -- it took me 30 minutes to get to a game 6 miles away last night). |

I'm not sure how I would like a flat fee with no mileage. I imagine it would work out during the course of a season and even out. Some nights around here you would make out really good and some nights you would get hosed.
Do any areas have mileage "zones" where you get paid a flat fee for a certain number of miles from home? Maybe $10 for under 20 miles, $15 for 20-40 miles, etc. |

Metro area:
1 varsity game: $73 Varsity + JV: $108 2 Varsity: $123 2 Non-varsity (JV, 9th grade, 10th grade, or JR High): $79 1 Non-varsity: $55. We get a $3-5 on top of the fees above if we work an 'outstate' game (generally more than 30 miles from downtown Minneapolis). No mileage or booking fees. Most of our non-varsity games are doubleheaders. Metro varsity games about 50% single games, 50% JV/V doubleheaders. Outstate games are almost always JV/V doubleheaders in my experience. |
