For those of you who think this is a charge, STOP looking at where the defender takes the contact (i.e. chest/center mass)....the defender HAS to establish LGP I. Order to have a PC (this is the problem identified by John Adams at the NCAA-M level - too many poor PC calls).

This defender NEVER has LGP.

He has both feet on the floor and his torso facing the ball handler not just once, but twice in this play...so he most certainly does have LGP established.

This is a block IMO because when the contact occurs the defender has stuck his leg out and that's where the contact occurs.

Agreed, it seems some have far more stringent standards than others when applying LGP rules.

He did have LGP at the start of the play but he was beat on the first dribble and lost LGP at that point. He was running beside the opponent most of the play trying to catch up. He needed to get into a guarding position again (in the path) and then get two feet down to obtain LGP again. He didn't do that so he didn't have LGP when it mattered.

I did....a few times...the path of the offensive player was to the basket, after getting beat at the start, the defender never got his torso between the offense and the basket again. He got his leg there, but that is it.

I thought for sure I would be calling this a CHARGE...since it seemed like some were saying this was a 50/50 call.

On a close 50/50 block/charge call...I go charge.

I finally got to see this video (on my phone)...I've got block...I didn't really think it was that close.
