Steve Javie and Colin Cowherd
Colin had Steve on this morning and had a real good interview with Steve. I don't know if one can listen to the interview on a podcast, but if Colin does podcasts of his show, one should try to listen to it.

I spend a lot of time in my car for my job. After years of exposure to ESPN radio, I have found that Scott Van Pelt is the ONLY talking head on ESPN that I can stomach for more than 10 minutes.

I would rather listen to Jim Rome than Cowherd...and Cowherd got his start out here in the Pac NW. Even that loyalty can't make me stomach him for more than about 2 minutes at a time.

I am not the biggest Cowherd fan, but as many of you know, I am semi-retired (wtih empahsis on retired) structural engineer who owns a courier business (that means I drive my Grand Caravan all over NW Ohio delivering things for customers). And satellite radio is great and that is why I happned to be listening to ESPN Radio instead of me usually listening to Sirrusly Sinatra, .
MTD, Sr. P.S. It still was a good interview.

Yes it was. Javie did a nice job redirecting Cowherd's nonsense about officials "anticipating a foul" and fans affecting an official's call.
Javie is a lot more patient than I would be. I'd probably respond with something like "no Colin, that's 100% the opposite of what we do and Bozo's like you continue to perpetuate that myth".

What kills me about Clueless is that he keeps getting let go for being an idiot, and comes out of it with a better job. Lost his job writing in Dallas, and got a great radio gig at the number 2 station in town. lost that for being an annoying idiot, and a few months later popped up at the number 1 station. Lost that one in short order and shows up on National ESPN. What's next?

In the heat of the moment, fans generally want calls to go their team's way, regardless. When things settle down, though, fans generally want to be smarter. They want to know why things are called the way they are. Believe it or not, it can affect how foolish they act when things don't go their way the next time. There are some things you can't tell fans during a game, but they can always learn later. Interviews like Javie's can only help.

I found Javie's response to contact interesting, as it shows a difference between pro and college/HS in that he states they focus more on the contact itself than the result of it. Understandable, when you consider the strength and abilities of NBA players makes it hard to ascertain whether a player truly is disadvantaged, as Javie and Cowherd discussed in regards to LeBron and the Heat.

Did anyone see the Steve Javie ESPN segment tonight?
He broke down the play of where Wade went to the basket and Ibaka blocked his shot and Wade fell on his butt/back. Javie said without missing a beat, "Even Jeff Van Gundy thought that was not a foul." I about fell out of my chair. Hilarious on his part. Peace
