Had a sudden death game today, with a little drama.

Boys' 5-6 tourney, last minute of the game, A has a one-point lead and the ball. A tries to kill time, but eventually throws the ball away over the endline. My partner administers the throw-in for B; I'm the new lead.

I glance at the scoreboard for the time, about 30 seconds left, and I notice now that B has a one-point lead. Tweet! I go to the table.

The scorekeeper, who's also running the clock, says she score is now correct. Additionally, she said she tried to inform Coach A while the ball was live, but he didn't hear her. Coach A is now understandably unhappy, but there's nothing we can do. I inform the scorekeeper, who's a little shaken, that in the future, if there's a scoring discrepancy, hit the horn to inform us. We'll clear up the matter.

Team A only has three team fouls, so hacks a bunch down the stretch. It doesn't matter, as B gets a layup with :08 to go up three.

A-1 gets the quick inbound, dribbles past the division line, and throws up the 20-foot prayer at the buzzer, swish.

Coach B thinks his team has won, but the score in my head was correct. We're going to three-minute overtime.

Nobody scores in OT, so we go to sudden death, must score two consecutive points. It took about a minute, when B-2 took a three from the right side. Bang, game over.
