No. The shot clock may have LED lights around it to indicate expiration of the shot clock period, but the backboard lights are only supposed to go off at the end of a period. In the college and HS gyms where I have officiated (Mass. does use a shot clock), none of the shot clocks have the LED lights.

WOW!!! The charge was absolutely brutal......Hess can't run and it looks like his judgement is even worse (add in the NC State debacle and he shouldn't be working in the post-season....but ugh, I'm sure he will).

He worked the highest profile game of the season yesterday and has worked about 90 games. Clearly, many like his work.

And to me it looks like he covers the court quite well.

Thanks for your work.

I'm not sure of the time on the OOB call really. The PC foul happened with under two minutes left. If you can find it, great, but no big deal.

Tim Higgins hasn't been able to run for several years either, but he still got high number of games each year too....

Fortunately, his games have decreased recently:

2009-2010 62
2010-2011 50
2011-2012 32

Just watch Hess work....he can't run.

Like I said, he looked to get down the floor pretty well on this play regardless of whether he got the call right. I've seen missed calls from guys standing still in perfect position. If you think the top officials are going to be able to beat 21-year-old players sprinting down the court without cheating back, well, let's just say I think that's an unrealistic expectation.

I will say I can name 3 other high profile (Final Four) officials who recently either retired or had drastically reduced schedules once their running became noticeably impaired.

Can't really say I've watched Hess enough to see how his running looks.
