Rutgers vs Villanova

Can someone get video clips of this one when it's over? There was a block called at about 14:05 in the 2nd half that looked like an easy PC foul. Then Villanova had a shot clock violation around 12:00 that went uncalled and wasn't close really.

AllPurposeGamer, can you pull video from this one? I saw that you were able to for the Colorado St/UNLV game. Didn't know if you got it from ESPN3 or what.

They had a couple more puzzling ones in the second half. There was an OOB violation on Rutgers on the sideline where the replay showed the player's foot was probably 4-5 inches from the sideline. The Lead also called a PC foul on Villanova in transition for pushing off with the forearm, and the replay showed very little contact and no displacement at all really.

I'm usually more apt to defend guys at this level, but it was a pretty sloppy second half honestly.

I will get around to it when I get an opportunity to.

Wow! How does that ever get called a block!?! I watched the official's position, and his eyes, and find that call amazing. I can only think that it's a mindset -- different from mine . . .

Or just a missed call

That's an IC if I ever saw it.

APG, Poor wording on my part. What can cause a missed call on this play? When I look at videos, such as this, I try to think of my viewpoint as that of the calling official. And, I'm having a hard time recognizing what would cause the miss -- a player flashing in front of the line of sight, late attention to the action, straight-lined, distance from the play, etc.

I went ahead and added both plays you initially requested zm1283...I went back and edited them in my initial post. If you want the other plays, I'm going to need the time stamp for them.

Charge, not even close...and I only watched it once.

On the other, not only did the shot not hit the rim, it wasn't even out of his hand when the shot clock hit 0.

Question from a high school official with very, very little experience with a shot clock: Do the red lights on the backboard go on when there is a shot clock violation?

Not sure for NCAA if it's mandated, but for the NBA, they have a single bar of light, above the box on the backboard, that lights up (in coordination with the shot clock horn) for shot clock violations. When a quarter ends, the lights on all four sides of the glass light up (the differentiate between the two...as well as a different horn to signal the end of the quarter).

KH not having a good week. :(

He had a very questionable call on a 3-pt shot by Curry yesterday.

Toren Sun Mar 04, 2012 08:16pm

Pretty obvious player control here.

I've never had the opportunity to judge the shot clock, so I won't place judgement on these guys for missing that one.

And an accidental whistle on a 3 pointer by Barnes late in the game.

Karl\'s not having a good several weeks.
