Ah, good times. The start of a sucessful business - the Bob Knight Furniture Co. Buy a sofa, and he'll throw in a chair.

(Thought I would get that out of the way early.)

I forgot about Reid missing all those FT's.

Hard to believe it has been that long. I remember watching that game in the tv room of my college dorm.

Gene Keady and Bobby Knight...you just KNEW someone was getting tossed in those games!

It was fun seeing the refs wearing those old style shirts. Actually, I work some rec games with a guy who still wears a collared shirt.

Chair-man of the Boards?

Bad Zebra Thu Feb 23, 2012 02:43pm

Just beautiful to watch after all these years. Ya can't help but giggle as the little plastic school chair skids smoothly across the lane. I often wonder what posessed him to toss a chair as opposed to slamming a clipboard or stomping....just beautiful. I guess that's what made him Bobby Knight.

Misty Watered Down Memories ...

It seems like only yesterday. My, they grow up so quickly.

I wonder what the rule was 30 years ago on throwing chairs. What were chairs made of 30 years ago? What was Bobby Knight's blood pressure level 30 years ago?

I coached for a long time before officiating. I began my coaching immediately after Indiana's 1981 championship. I admired him in the beginning  and absolutely loved the way his teams played. This episode took almost all of the glitter away from my eyes and everything else he did afterwards convinced me that he was a great basketball mind but a deeply troubled person. :(

I guess I did not realize that Steve Alford was playing at that time. I learned something new today. ;)

And then Daryl Thomas (second foul called on him in the video) is an varsity assistant coach at a local High School that Isiah Thomas also attended down the street from me. Remember Hoop Dreams?

Peace
