Yes he his. He is the winningest coach in IHSA history. Still going strong and hardly says a word to officials about anything.

Peace

By the way, why was the A.D. requested to get into the mix? Standard operating procedure?

Game admin. Officials had a coach who was refusing to leave.

But, Knight only had 2 Ts at the time. The third came after the A.D. took the floor. It was three for ejection back at that time, right?

Per the article, he was ejected by all three officials after he tossed the chair. The third was for making a sailor blush with his language directed at the officials.

Was there a flagrant T in the rules at that time? Would throwing the chair in the general direction of the player getting ready to shoot and the administering officials been ruled flagrant?

Didn't know it took three, but I was going to add that throwing the chair is likely a flagrant.

I don't know that it ever did? All I know is the the third was after he was already tossed.

A player, coach, or bench personnel can always (with apologies to J. Dallas Shirley) be disquailifed or ejected after committing a single Flagrant Technical Foul. The first TF can be a FTF.

Ref2Coach:

Is this a rhetorical question?

How about cheerleaders on the court while they're waiting for the free throw shooter?

How about the 45 second shot clock?

FIBA Metric Rules: It's a flagrant technical foul, and automatic ejection, to throw a shoe.

rockyroad Fri Feb 24, 2012 01:47pm

At that time, the NCAA rules was that it took a combination of 3 T's on a Head Coach to be ejected...players and Assistants were 2. The throwing of the chair was deemed flagrant and he was ejected - which turned his argument into a "you can't eject me, I've only got 2 T's" type of thing.
