And btw, Rut, I believe Chuck has stated that he doesn't partake of the brownpops, so don't accuse him of gettin' all lickered up and makin' fun of ya. Now me on the other hand...;)

When the ratings come out, I think more people will have watched OLN's climbing of Everest beat any WNBA game. BTW all the female climbers dropped out of that one too.

I knew that, stripes. I apologize if my reply seemed to be taking offense. I was just trying to explain that my post didn't have anything to do with my feelings (good or bad) about Rut; but I just chose his name b/c of his preference not to watch women's ball (which, as I've said, I have no problem with). Obviously, I can't speak for other folks. Again, sorry if it seemed otherwise. This whole thing was supposed to be a joke, but apparently I screwed it up again. Oh well.

I personally prefer sports on a case by case basis--women's tennis and volleyball are two that I prefer to their male counterpart sports.
Is that the kind of women's volleyball that they play on the beach in bikinis? ;)

Holy crow, where to begin? Sigh. I have no desire to get into a battle here, but. . .

I said you exaggerated that the point I make about women's basketball only comes from me.
Well, I never said that you're the only one who has said that. (Perhaps I also could insert "get it right" here?) All I said was that you seem to be the one to voice this opinion (WHICH I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH WHATSOEVER) most often on this board. That's all. The article made me think of you. I apologize.

I also think the point that stripes makes, is that many people have the same attitude.
Stripes can speak for himself. And he already did.
You do realize, I hope, that I didn't write the underlined portion of the above quote. You wrote that. I never spoke for stripes. I only said that I made the same point that he did, which is that you're not the only one to like men's hoop better than women's (which is a position that I have no problem with whatsoever).

The one that needs to lighten up is you Chuck. As usual you think this is an emotional topic when it is not even a blip on the radar.

Rut, it was supposed to be a joke, ok? I am sorry. I apologize. I had no emotional investment whatsoever in the post. I thought it would be funny. If you don't think it was, then I apologize.

Quote:

If you did not want to respond, why use my name to make a joke?
I explained this. I used your name b/c it seemed to me that you're the one that states that particular opinion most often on the board. That's all. If Dan was always saying that he hated girls basketball, I would've used Dan's name.

Quote:

I just stated that I am not the only one that feels that way and stripes made that very clear.
I agree with you 100%, and already said as much.

Again, it was intended to be a joke. I'm sorry that you felt it was out of line. I apologize, I graciously accept your admonition. I am clearly out of touch with reality. Thank you for enlightening me.

And I also apologize to the rest of the board. I never imagined that this thread would turn into this kind of discussion; and obviously, I should have. Definitely my bad.

My cat's name is Madison. That went to Maddy, then Fatty, then Fatto, to Fat Slob, so now we just call her the Slob. Same thing.

Just to be clear, I'm not calling you a cat. I'm not trying to turn your screen name into an emotional issue. :(

Interesting. . . Even with all my shortcomings, I don't see the "(sp?)" after Annika's name. . .

And by the way, how does "dumb@$$" get a winkie face? I don't hear "dumb@$$" as a term of endearment very often. But that could just be my area of the country, obviously.

Can someone just repond to your silly behind without it being a battle. You post something with my name and attribute the attitude to me and you take it as a battle because I respond to you? Who is the one that needs to lighten up.

You very much implied that I had no right to say anything to you about "overstating" or whatever word you choose to attribute to me. But then again, you do what you do. Not an issue here.

And all I am saying is, I am not the only voice that feels that way. I am sorry your only interaction with officials is on this board, but I am not looking at it from just this board. Which is why an ESPN Website posted that point of view.

I am not like others here. I can at the very least understand that stripes can speak for himself. I have an understanding of his point of view, but unlike others here, I do not claim I completely understand. He is a grown man and probably a very good official and he can tell you ultimitely thinks about it. I am just editorializing his comments with the understanding that he will eventually tell you in the end what he meant if you were not clear.

If you did not want me to comment, then you should not have used my name to make your joke. I for one am not going to have you use my point of view and not comment at all. I have no concern other than to state that I am not alone. And if I was alone, stripes would have never chimed in on the issue.

And I would expect Dan to say something if that was the case. I do not think anyone would be mad at him or say he did not get the joke if he did so. But then again if I respond <b>STOP THE DAMN PRESSES</b>

I did not say you were out of touch of anything. I just find it funny that you bring my opinion up, then take issue with me saying something about it. And I do understand that I am one of the top 5 posters on this board and anything I say is going to be some history behind those words and that is fair game. I am just saying to you that "I am not the only one." That is all. But as usually you think I am mad or upset because I respond. Wow, where did you get that routine from?

Well when people spell both of my names, they spell them wrong all the time. You do not see me jumping down their throats for doing that. But then again, you have a sense of humor right?

Maybe because you are around a bunch of stiffs that take life too seriously and never have any fun. I just this past weekend got called all kinds of names and the people saying were laughing. So maybe you need some fun in your life. Because as I keep saying, this is just a discussion board. This is not a place to write a Doctoral Thesis or to get a degree or to even write a formal letter to an association. It is just a place to discuss a silly sport, which is not important to anyone but the people here. Probably too important I can see.

Peace

ChuckElias Tue Jun 03, 2003 07:13pm

Apparently, Rut, I have completely misunderstood every word you've ever typed on this board. I apologize. When I have disagreed with you, clearly it's b/c I'm an idiot and cannot grasp your posts.

I am deeply sorry. Please be assured that I know that there are many people who prefer men's basketball to women's, and I never thought that only you had that preference. I obviously did not state that clearly enough and again, I apologize.

I meant to make a joke. It didn't turn out that way. I apologize. I'm done with this thread. "People Skills" was fun once, but I'm not willing to do it again.
