Yeah, I don't know how he's suppose to wave that off any quicker than he did.

Precisely, He does it as quickly as he can, yet since it is split second, it could be construed as after he(shooter) released it.

My thoughts as well. The announcer was wrong...both times!

Good call. You can pause the video and then play it and the ball is still in his hands and you can hear the horn going off.

The announcers are a couple of chuckleheads.

He waved it off before the ball went into the basket I believe. It was close so I would not expect him to be waving his arms before the shot was released (if that is what you are actually suggesting).

I managed to do that too. Paused at 12 seconds. I had heard the beginnings of the horn, and the ball starting to come out of his hands, but still in contact with the hands.

Did anyone else have a carry? At first I couldn't tell who the commentators were cheering for, it became fairly obvious.

The C did a great job as everyone else said, on first viewing I thought it was in his hand. But glad I had the replay button cause I wasn't 100% like the C was.

Yep -- at < D-I we're expected to get it right every time, and get raked over the coals if we don't, but we don't have the replay monitor to fall back on. Coaches and media can review the tape and make a leisurely decision, though. Lah me.

So should the trail have been making the call in the video as opposed to the C?
Maybe he was (along with the C), but you can't see the trail at that point in the video.
Could the crew in their pre-game, discussed using the NCAAW coverage for a last second shot?

No. The center is opposite the table. It's his all the way.

I've never worked the NCAAW mechanic in a high school game and would never dream of doing so.

Personally, I like the NFHS mechanic better. It's only when I work with NCAAW officials do I get into a prolonged discussion of whether we need to "lock down." The NFHS mechanic allows the lead to initiate rotations whenever he/she wants (up through the final horn) and the rotation does NOT change the last shot responsibility unless the ball goes the other way.
